New Punjabi Movies October 2026: Why Dastaar Is Worth Looking Out For
Punjabi cinema offers a range of stories, from family dramas and romantic comedies to action films and socially relevant narratives. For viewers exploring Punjabi movies releasing in October 2026, Dastaar brings a different kind of story to the screen.
Rather than relying only on action, the film centres on a character facing grief, discrimination and difficult circumstances. Its setting in 1980s Britain also brings the experiences of Sikh immigrants into focus, giving the story a wider social context.
For audiences who enjoy Punjabi films with serious themes and an emotional core, Dastaar offers something different from a conventional entertainer.
What Is Dastaar About?
Dastaar follows Harnek, a turbaned Sikh immigrant living in Britain during the 1980s. His life is turned upside down when a brutal racial attack takes the lives of his loved ones.
Faced with tragedy, Harnek must find a way to move forward. His grief gradually becomes a source of courage, leading him from the life of a humble immigrant towards becoming a strong community leader.
The film explores themes of faith, dignity, identity and standing up against prejudice. The dastaar itself carries significance within the story, connecting Harnek’s personal journey to the pride and resilience of the wider Sikh community.
This focus on identity and community gives Dastaar a distinct place among Punjabi action dramas.
Tarsem Jassar Leads the Cast of Dastaar
Tarsem Jassar plays Harnek Singh, the central character whose journey drives the film. Known to Punjabi audiences for his work as an actor and singer, Jassar takes on a role shaped by personal loss, determination and responsibility towards his community.
The film also features Geet Goraya as Tehzeeb Kaur and Yograj Singh as Harnek’s Papaji. Sarbjit Cheema is part of the principal cast, alongside actors including Aman Dhaliwal, Neeta Mohindra and Aashish Duggal.
With its ensemble cast and period setting, Dastaar brings together familiar Punjabi performers and a story that moves beyond everyday family or romantic conflicts.
What Makes Dastaar Different From Other Punjabi Movies?
One of the film’s defining elements is its setting. Set in 1980s Britain, the story looks at the challenges faced by a Sikh immigrant community far from Punjab.
The film also places identity at the centre of its narrative. Harnek’s journey is not simply about overcoming a personal tragedy; it is about finding the strength to respond to discrimination and stand up for others.
For viewers who want to explore latest Punjabi movies in 2026, Dastaar may appeal because of its combination of action, drama and social themes. It offers a story built around courage and resilience rather than comedy or romance alone.
