Parmish Verma Filmography

Parmish Verma didn't set out to be an actor. He built his name first as a music video director, then as a singer, before a boxing thriller called Rocky Mental turned him into a Punjabi cinema lead almost overnight. Since then he's played a betrayed athlete, a photographer falling for an internet-famous influencer, a childhood sweetheart fighting disapproval, and a son trying to get his own widowed father remarried - a role he shot opposite his real-life father. He's built much of his career around one recurring creative partnership - director-writer Uday Pratap Singh, who wrote Rocky Mental's screenplay before going on to direct both Dil Diyan Gallan and Main Te Bapu. Parmish has also taken increasing creative control of his own work over time, producing Main Te Bapu alongside his brother Sukhan Verma before stepping fully into the director's chair for Tabaah. Along the way, Wamiqa Gabbi has become his most notable recurring co-star, with the two reuniting five years apart in Dil Diyan Gallan and Tabaah. This guide walks through the Parmish Verma filmography currently streaming on Chaupal - the Punjabi movies featuring Parmish Verma that best represent his range - tracing his films from his 2017 acting debut through the romantic dramas that built his stardom, along with answers to the questions audiences most often ask about his movies. Parmish Verma Movies You Should Know About 1. Rocky Mental Release: 2017 Genre: Action, Drama, Thriller Director: Vikram Thori Writer: Vikram Thori, Sanjay Saini (story); Uday Pratap Singh (screenplay) Cast: Parmish Verma, Tannu Kaur Gill, Mahabir Bhullar, Dheeraj Kumar, Jagjeet Sandhu, Kanika Mann Rocky Mental marked Parmish Verma's acting debut, casting him as Rajdeep Singh Dhaliwal - "Rocky" - a national-level boxer training for the Commonwealth Games whose self-belief tips into arrogance. A brawl with a Cabinet minister's brother over a woman named Ibadat sets off a chain of targeted attacks that leave Rocky shattered and questioning who he can trust. Director Vikram Thori builds the film as a nonlinear thriller, jumping between Rocky's rise and the depressive spiral that follows once the people closest to him start turning against him. It was a bold way to introduce a former music video director to Punjabi cinema audiences, trading the comic or romantic leads most newcomers start with for something darker and more physical. Rocky Mental set the template for the kind of intense, personal-stakes storytelling Parmish would keep returning to. 2. Dil Diyan Gallan Release: 2019 Genre: Romance, Drama Director: Uday Pratap Singh Writer: Uday Pratap Singh Cast: Parmish Verma, Wamiqa Gabbi, Gaurav Kakkar, Anoop Karir Dil Diyan Gallan reunited Parmish Verma with Rocky Mental screenwriter Uday Pratap Singh, this time in the director's chair, casting Parmish as Laddi, a photographer who falls for Natasha (Wamiqa Gabbi), a social media influencer invited to London for a lecture on internet fame. The film leans into the culture clash between Natasha's curated online persona and Laddi's grounded sincerity, using their relationship to interrogate what's real versus performed in a life lived for likes. It became one of Parmish's most talked-about romantic leads, with the influencer-culture premise tapping into a conversation that was just heating up in mainstream Indian media at the time. The pairing with Wamiqa Gabbi worked well enough that the two would reunite five years later for Tabaah. Dil Diyan Gallan remains the clearest example of Parmish's appeal as a romantic lead rather than an action one. 3. Jinde Meriye Release: 2020 Genre: Romance Director: Pankaj Batra Writer: Pankaj Batra, Jatinder Lall Cast: Parmish Verma, Sonam Bajwa, Yuvraj Hans, Navneet Kaur Dhillon Jinde Meriye pairs Parmish Verma with Sonam Bajwa as Yaadi and Rehmat, childhood friends turned sweethearts whose plans to marry hit a wall once Rehmat's father decides Yaadi is too careless to build a future with his daughter. Director Pankaj Batra frames the story as a fight against disapproval and circumstance rather than a love triangle, with Yuvraj Hans rounding out the cast as a friend caught in the middle of the fallout. The film did strong business at the box office, becoming one of the bigger Punjabi hits of early 2020 before the pandemic reshaped the release calendar for the rest of the year. Reviews were split - some praised the chemistry between Parmish and Sonam, others found the plotting uneven - but the film's soundtrack and lead pairing kept it in circulation well past its theatrical run. Jinde Meriye reinforced Parmish's standing as a romantic lead capable of carrying a film opposite one of Pollywood's most established actresses. 4. Main Te Bapu Release: 2022 Genre: Comedy, Drama Director: Uday Pratap Singh Writer: Jagdeep Singh Warring Cast: Parmish Verma, Satish Verma, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sunita Dhir, Rose J. Kaur Main Te Bapu - "Me and Dad" - casts Parmish Verma as Laali, a young man who wants to marry his girlfriend Mahi and move to Canada, but can't bring himself to leave his widowed father alone. His solution: get his father remarried first, so he won't be leaving him behind. In a genuinely personal touch, Parmish cast his own real-life father, Satish Verma - a theatre artist and professor - as the on-screen dad, stepping in front of the camera opposite his son for a story built around exactly that relationship. Director Uday Pratap Singh, working with Parmish for a third time, leans into situational comedy around the father's reluctant re-entry into romance, though critics were mixed on whether the screenplay gave the emotional core enough room to breathe. Main Te Bapu showed a lighter, more overtly comedic side of Parmish than his earlier work, and marked his growing role as producer alongside his brother Sukhan Verma. 5. Tabaah Release: 2024 Genre: Drama, Romance Director: Parmish Verma Writer: Gurjind Maan Cast: Parmish Verma, Wamiqa Gabbi, Dheeraj Kumar, Kanwaljit Singh, Kavi Singh Tabaah marked Parmish Verma's full debut as a solo director, stepping behind the camera for the first time to also star opposite Wamiqa Gabbi five years after Dil Diyan Gallan. He plays a man undone by a love he never confesses in time, trading the earlier film's lighter romantic tone for something heavier and built around longing and missed timing rather than a happy resolution. Written by Gurjind Maan, the film leaned heavily on the Parmish-Wamiqa reunion as its central promotional hook, with their established chemistry doing much of the work to draw audiences back. It closed out a run of Parmish taking increasing creative control over his own films, following his production credit on Main Te Bapu two years earlier. Tabaah stands as Parmish's most personal project to date - the first film where he's fully responsible for the story from behind the camera as well as in front of it. Parmish Verma's Most Popular Movie Genres A few genres come up again and again across Parmish Verma's films, and together they explain the range that's carried him from music video director to leading man. Romantic Dramas Dil Diyan Gallan, Jinde Meriye, and Tabaah define Parmish Verma's core appeal as far as Parmish Verma romantic movies go, each built around love complicated by external disapproval, curated online personas, or timing rather than simple obstacles. Family Comedy Main Te Bapu shows a lighter side within Parmish Verma comedy movies, built around father-son dynamics and a genuinely personal touch: his own real father playing his on-screen dad. Action & Sports Drama Rocky Mental remains Parmish's outlier - a nonlinear boxing thriller that introduced him to Punjabi cinema with a darker, more physical role than the romantic leads that would follow.
