Neeru Bajwa Filmography

Neeru Bajwa has spent nearly two decades becoming one of Punjabi cinema's most recognizable and bankable leading ladies. From her blockbuster debut with Jatt & Juliet in 2012 to her recent acclaimed dramatic turn in Kali Jotta, Bajwa has built a filmography that spans romantic comedies, women-centric dramas, family films, and period pieces. She's become the kind of actor who can anchor a commercial family entertainer one month and carry a socially conscious crime drama the next, and audiences trust her in both. That versatility is rare in Punjabi cinema. While many actors carve out successful careers by specializing in a single genre, Bajwa has refused to be confined to just one kind of role. She's held her own opposite Diljit Dosanjh in a franchise that became Punjabi cinema's biggest commercial success story (Jatt & Juliet). She's stood toe-to-toe with acclaimed actors like Satinder Sartaaj in films that prioritize social commentary over spectacle. She's also become a producer in her own right through Neeru Bajwa Entertainment, giving her creative control over the projects she chooses. This guide walks through 10 of her most significant films, all currently streaming on Chaupal OTT, tracking her evolution from romantic comedy breakthrough to one of Punjabi cinema's most respected performers. Neeru Bajwa Movies You Should Know About 1. Jatt & Juliet Release: 2012 Genre: Romantic Comedy, Family Drama Director: Anurag Singh Cast: Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Upasana Singh, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma Jatt & Juliet launched Neeru Bajwa into the mainstream of Punjabi cinema and marked the beginning of one of Indian cinema's most successful on-screen partnerships. The film is a playful romantic comedy built around the collision of two worlds, a loud, brash Punjabi jatt (Diljit Dosanjh) and a proper, educated woman (Bajwa) from the city. The chemistry between the two leads is immediate and electric, anchored by Bajwa's ability to hold her own against Dosanjh's outsized screen presence. What could have been a one-note supporting role becomes a fully realized character in Bajwa's hands. The film's massive success, it became one of the highest-grossing Punjabi films of its era, is built as much on Bajwa's charm and comedy timing as on Dosanjh's star power. It's rare to find a leading lady who can make audiences believe in both the romance and the comedy with equal conviction. 2. Jatt & Juliet 2 Release: 2013 Genre: Romantic Comedy. Director: Anurag Singh Cast: Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Rana Ranbir, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma The sequel proved that the first film's success wasn't a fluke. This time, Bajwa and Dosanjh reprise their roles as police officers Fateh and Pooja, giving the romantic comedy a new setting and new comic situations to mine. Bajwa won the PTC Punjabi Film Award for Best Actress for this role, cementing her status not just as Dosanjh's leading lady but as a serious performer in her own right. Her ability to balance slapstick comedy, romantic tension, and genuine emotional moments across a franchise film proved she was more than a charming newcomer; she was a leading actress of substance. 3. Channo Kamli Yaar Di Release: 2016Genre: Drama, Action, Women-CentricDirector: Pankaj BatraWriter: Naresh KathooriaCast: Neeru Bajwa, Binnu Dhillon, Karamjit Anmol, Rana Ranbir Channo Kamli Yaar Di reunited Neeru Bajwa and Binnu Dhillon in an emotionally gripping drama that broke away from typical Punjabi cinema molds. The film follows Channo, a pregnant woman who embarks on a desperate journey to Canada to find her mysteriously missing husband, Jeet. What makes this story compelling is the quiet performance by Binnu Dhillon as Taji, Jeet's best friend, who harbors deep, unspoken feelings for Channo but puts her needs before his own. Director Pankaj Batra creates an intimate narrative with just two central characters that manages to engage audiences without the typical grandeur of Punjabi films. Channo's journey became a cultural milestone in Punjabi cinema. 4. The film proves that Bajwa hasn't lost her touch with the franchise that made her a star, even as she's expanded her range into more serious dramatic territory. Neeru Bajwa's Most Popular Movie Genres Bajwa's filmography is defined by her ability to move fluidly between distinct genres while bringing authenticity and depth to each. Romantic Comedy The Jatt & Juliet franchise remains her most iconic work in this genre. Bajwa brings charm, comedy timing, and genuine romantic vulnerability to roles that could easily become one-dimensional. Her success in romantic comedy isn't just about pairing well with charismatic male leads, it's about her ability to make audiences genuinely invested in her character's emotional journey. Women-Centric Drama In recent years, Bajwa has anchored increasingly serious dramas centered on female protagonists facing real social issues. Kali Jotta, Buhe Bariyan, and Shadaa show her evolution into an artist interested in using cinema to explore gender dynamics and social inequality.
